Fitness for Life

Coach Kristin

Owner/Coach Kristin Sloan

View Bio

Passionate gym owner with a mission to help people absolutely dominate their fitness and nutrition goals. I'm convinced that consistent sweat + intelligent eating = unstoppable momentum and life-changing results.

Community is everything to me—there's no better feeling than that post-workout high-five (or fist bump) after crushing a great session together. When I'm not coaching or training, I'm running my family's local motel, Motel Somerset, doing ultrasounds as a general medical Sonographer (12 years in this career) and—most importantly—making memories with my husband, kids, and siblings.

Fitness has been part of my life for 22 years, starting with pure strength training. Five years ago I discovered CrossFit and instantly fell in love with its perfect blend of functional movements and incredible community spirit.

My deepest passion lies in health, nutrition, functional fitness, and guiding others to set bold, achievable goals that shape their future. Let's build strength, confidence, and lasting habits—together.

Miame is a graduate of Western Michigan University with a degree in Exercise Science specializing in Strength and Conditioning. She has coached CrossFit and functional fitness for the last four years and has trained youth athletes in sport specific programs. She is a wife of 12 years, a mom of three, and a full-time photographer serving the Jackson community. Miame is passionate about helping athletes and individuals build strength, confidence, and lifelong healthy habits.

Coach Jocelyn

Coach Jocelyn Wilder

View Bio

Jocelyn grew up playing volleyball and soccer competitively as a youth and continued into college. After having children and moving to the Jackson area, she was introduced to CrossFit. Taking group classes for three years made her consider coaching others because of how it impacted her life—creating a shift in mentality from focusing on "how I looked and how much I weighed" to setting strength-based goals. She especially loves working with women who are new to Strength & Conditioning, helping them develop a healthier mindset about exercise and body image.

Jocelyn is a CF-L2 Certified Trainer and has been coaching and working with individuals for four years. She holds a bachelor's degree in business management from the Ivy College at Iowa State University and works in Wealth Management and Financial Planning as her full-time job. Jocelyn and her husband Josh are both active, along with their children Brylee and Harrison, who keep them busy running from one sport to the next.

Coach Nicky

Gym Manager/Coach Nicky Herl

View Bio

With over 10 years of experience in fitness and nutrition and 5 years of coaching, I am passionate about helping people live healthier, stronger lives. I specialize in functional fitness and proper nutrition and am trained to help women safely work out during and after pregnancy. My goal is to create sustainable habits that build strength, confidence, and long-term health—both inside and outside the gym.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children, camping, playing outside, and enjoying family movie nights.

Coach Jaime

Coach Jaime Vanepps

View Bio

As a former Roller Derby player, Jaime was looking for a way to become healthier and stronger after she retired from the sport. Jaime found CrossFit in 2018 and quickly fell in love with the sport, as well as the community. She began coaching in 2023 after receiving her CF-L1 Trainer Certificate. She loves to show her classes that this sport can be done by everyone and at every level. No matter your physical ability, she shows that any movement can be scaled to anyone’s ability.

Coach Pedro

Coach Pedro Tovar

View Bio

Pedro started his fitness journey as a multiple-sport athlete as a teenager. As a young adult, Pedro focused on powerlifting and obtaining strength. Over the past 10 years, Pedro has turned to conditioning and overall physical health. He has competed in many CrossFit competitions and loves to challenge himself. Pedro has coached all different age groups and abilities, including young children, teenagers, seniors, and individuals with special needs.

Pedro has a bachelor's degree in Computer Network Administration from Siena Heights University and works as a Senior Operations Manager. Pedro loves to create a comfortable and fun gym environment by dancing, cracking jokes, and getting to know the members. Although he appreciates a good workout, he has a weakness for cookies.

Coach Paige

Coach Paige Rooney

View Bio

Paige began her fitness journey in 2018, where she discovered a love for class-based workouts, strength training, and conditioning. This passion led her to begin coaching CrossFit in 2023, with a strong focus on helping athletes build strength and improve overall conditioning. She has been involved in sports her entire life, including volleyball, basketball, and softball, and continues to play softball actively within the community.

Paige is a Registered Nurse currently pursuing her Master’s degree to become a Family Nurse Practitioner, bringing a strong understanding of health, safety, and long-term wellness into her coaching. As a married parent of two, she values the family-oriented atmosphere at Fitness for Life and the supportive, inclusive community it provides.
